Ahold Delhaize USA has widened its partnership with Uber Eats to provide on-demand grocery delivery from nearly 2,000 stores across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the US.

Under the expanded arrangement, stores run by Food Lion; Giant Food; The GIANT Company, which includes GIANT and MARTIN'S; Hannaford; and Stop & Shop are now available through the Uber Eats marketplace.

Customers can shop from thousands of items, including fresh foods, pantry staples, household essentials and alcohol at select locations, using either on-demand or scheduled delivery.

Ahold Delhaize USA chief commercial and digital officer Keith Nicks said: “Customers expect flexibility in how they shop, and that means being wherever they are – whether through our own brand experiences or trusted marketplaces like Uber Eats.

“This partnership reinforces our brands’ commitments to being leading omnichannel retailers, making it even easier for customers to access the brands they know and trust.”

The latest expansion follows an existing partnership between Ahold Delhaize USA and Uber Direct, which supports first-party delivery channels for the group’s brands by linking them to Uber’s courier network.

Ahold Delhaize USA said the addition of Uber Eats gives its brands a third-party marketplace channel alongside their own websites and apps, while each brand retains its local identity.

Uber North America grocery and retail head Hashim Amin added: “Partnering with trusted local retailers like the Ahold Delhaize USA brands allows us to bring fresh, affordable groceries and everyday essentials to more customers.”

Last month, the company also partnered with SmartCommerce to roll out its Click2Cart technology across various omnichannel grocery chains in the US.

According to Ahold Delhaize USA, the partnership intended to shorten the path between viewing a product online and completing a transaction.
