Global speciality insurer the Fortegra Group has named Iwan Röpcke as its CEO for Belgium.
Röpcke has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance sector covering broking, commercial roles, and senior management across Benelux and other European markets.
He moves to Fortegra from Lloyd’s Insurance Company, where he was country manager for Belgium and the Netherlands.
In that position, he helped develop the business from an early stage and had responsibility for strategy and growth.
Earlier in his career, he held senior posts at Willis Towers Watson through Gras Savoye, including head of sales and head of the competence centre.
He has also worked at Inter Partner Assistance (AXA Assistance) as commercial director for Benelux, as well as at Winterthur Europe Assurances, AIG Europe, Aon Belgium and Marsh.
His background includes work across several specialty risk segments and ties with brokers and insurers across Europe.
Last year, DB Insurance entered into a deal to acquire Fortegra from Tiptree and Warburg Pincus for approximately $1.65bn (Won2.43tn) in cash.
Founded in 1978 and headquartered in the US, Fortegra has presence across the country and in parts of Europe.
It operates in all 50 US states and in eight European countries including Italy and the UK.
Upon receiving regulatory clearance, Fortegra will run independently as part of DB's specialty insurance business across the US and Europe.
The deal was approved by Tiptree shareholders in December, with approximately 81% of votes cast in favour. The transaction is scheduled for completion in the middle of this year.
"Fortegra names Iwan Röpcke as Belgium CEO" was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.
